Taste Event, April cleanses, time to subscribe to CSA's!

Hi, friends--

Spring is such a transformational time of year--I love the experience of waking up to birds chirping, tulips and daffodils preparing to bloom, and the smells of green. Though this weekend's snow storm put a temporary hold on being outdoors, Mother Nature continues to awaken us all to emerge from hibernation.

Our bodies are ready to awaken and want to do a good spring cleaning. This means shedding the extra weight we put on for warmth and energy reserve in the winter, as well as cleansing our blood, organs, and tissues as we prepare to be more physically active. The best way I have found to do that is with a whole, natural food cleanse -- where we eat lots of detoxifying and alkalizing fruits, veggies, whole grains, and plant proteins.

You may have seen my recent email regarding our Taste Event. If you've not been sure about "this cleansing stuff"-- come for a taste! We find that once people taste some of the food we'll be eating on the cleanse, they realize a cleanse will not only be good for their bodies, it'll give them a whole new stack of easy-to-make recipes for dishes that are as delicious as they are healthy!

CSA's (Community Supported Agriculture)

One last thing that I want to be sure you're aware of is that it's CSA sign-up time! "CSA" stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Joining a CSA means you get a bag of locally and organically grown produce every week, throughout the growing season (usually early May to October.) Phil and I did this for the first time last year and absolutely loved it! Not only did we eat better each week, we felt more connected to eating foods in season and loved supporting local organic farms.

The best way to find out about joining a CSA is through the Kansas City Food Circle, http://www.kcfoodcircle.org/.

KC Food Circle has two events coming up-- Saturday 3/27 in Shawnee, and 4/3 in Independence, where you can learn more about CSAs and meet some of the local farms that have CSA shares available. Check out their website for event details

Discovering True Health

I'm very excited to be partnering with my friend and colleague Sarah Langford to offer a comprehensive corporate wellness program called Discovering True Health. Sarah and I are combining her comprehensive integrated nutrition series called Magic of Food with a Cleanse With Friends Whole Food cleanse. The class and the lab, so to speak! Most corporate wellness programs available today focus on checking risk factors, such as blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar, and providing cookie-cutter, heard-it-before plans to increase exercise and eat less.

Discovering True Health is an integrated approach to wellness, focusing on education and immersion experiences to bring balance, awareness, and health in mind, body and spirit. It's both preventative and supportive when health issues have already surfaced.

We are in the refining stages, and are looking for 2-3 small businesses who are forward thinking and supportive of holistic approaches to wellness (both for themselves and their staff) to test a pilot program. If you know of anyone, or are interested yourself, please email me at tamara@tcreighton.com or call me (913-232-6419) directly and we can discuss further.

And, of course, I continue to offer one-on-one nutrition coaching, Compass bioscans, and Hawaiian lomilomi massage each week. All my passions! Call me at 913-232-6419 or email me at tamara@tcreighton.com for open appointment dates and times. :-)

I see the sun peeking out! Enjoy the precious emergence of Spring!

All the best,

Tamara
